GraceKennedy (GK) Foods has made a sizeable donation of products to the Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) to say thanks for their valiant firefighting efforts this year. The products were presented to a JFB team, led by Commissioner Stewart Beckford, at GK’s headquarters in downtown Kingston on Monday, March 27.

Speaking at the handover, GK Foods – Domestic CEO, Frank James, explained, “Fighting fires is an exhausting exercise for the teams of firefighters working throughout the day and night across the island. They are not only saving property but also saving lives.  We know they have been fighting an unusual number of fires so far this year, and this donation is a way for Grace Foods to say thank you to the JFB teams. We are amazed by their commitment and dedication, and hope that this gift will help them have a Happy Easter!”

The GK Foods donation comprised cases of Grace Mighty Malt and Grace Food Drink, and Easter gift packages from Dairy Industries Jamaica Ltd, a subsidiary of Grace Foods. The Easter packages included an Easter Bun, Tastee Cheese, Tropical Rhythms, and a few other items.

Expressing his appreciation, Commissioner Beckford said, “The Jamaica Fire Brigade has been tackling record-breaking numbers of bushfires, with over 3000 reported since the start of the year. This has been taking a toll on our team members, which means this donation has come at the right time. It means that more of our team members will be able to properly enjoy Easter.”

He added, “The Grace brand is well known, and we are grateful to them for making the effort to recognize us this Easter.”
