GK Foods was the main food sponsor and a major sponsor overall of the recently held Circle of Sisters, a two day expo presented on October 11 & 12, 2008 by New York-based radio station WBLS.

This year the expo, which was held at the Jacob Javitts Convention Center in New York City, had one of the biggest attendances on record (more than 25,000 persons).

A big hit with the crowd was the Grace Foods Cooking Pavilion which featured several cooking demonstrations by Shereen Codner of Grace Foods and Services. Popular with the attendees were two of Grace Kitchen’s more popular recipes - Chicken Curry in Coconut Milk and Jerked Barbecued Ribs. Also participating at the pavilion were celebrity chefs including Jeff Henderson, author of "Chef Jeff Cooks: In the Kitchen with America’s Inspirational New Culinary Star" with Chef Aaron McCargo; Norma Jean Darden, Chef, Restaurateur, and Contributing Author to the O Magazine Cookbook; Champaine, WBLS Personality and Trained Chef; Sunny Anderson, Food Network Chef and host of Cooking for Real and How’d That Get On My Plate?; Fabiola D. Gaines, dietician and author of "The New Soul Food Cookbook for People with Diabetes"; and Joan Davis, Shakara Bridgers, and Jeniece Isley, authors of "The Get ‘Em Girls Guide to Unlocking the Power of Cuisine".

Circle of Sisters was designed to unite and celebrate women of color, providing an avenue for friends and family members to spend time together while looking at unique exhibits, enjoying stimulating seminars, and dancing to their favorite musical groups. Over the course of two days the event brought out celebrities from all genres including Terry Dexter, Deborah Cox, Regina Belle, Kindred & The Family Soul, Lyfe Jennings and Jennifer Hudson. A segment billed as Gospel Explosion featured Donnie McClurkin, Maurette Brown-Clarke, James Fortune and Hezekiah Walker.
