
Michele Orane was appointed to the Board of Directors in January 2002.
A specialist in Early Childhood Education, Mrs. Orane headed the Jamaica House Basic School for three and a half years after it opened in 1974. She was also a ballet teacher to six to eight year olds and was on the staff of the St. Andrew Preparatory School for many years.
Mrs. Orane currently serves on the board of The Point Hill Diagnostic Reading Centre which is a new facility in St. Catherine set up to address the high rate of illiteracy in the Point Hill environs. She is a member of the Women's Leadership Initiative which focuses on improving the Sylvia Foote Basic School in Kingston among other projects.
A sports enthusiast, she represented her alma mater, St. Andrew High School for Girls, in netball and discus throwing and is still involved in the school through its alumni association. Mrs. Orane is an avid reader and a member of a hiking group.
