Last Saturday, the place to be was Rapid True Value, Ocho Rios, as the home centre and hardware chain took its GRAND NEW FRONTIER promotion on the road. The stylish silver 4x4 2006 Nissan Frontier AX Double Cab was a hit among the hundreds of customers who came out to view the vehicle and shop for a chance to win.
The Ocho Rios store was buzzing with excitement as the shoppers milled around the Frontier. But for one, Phyllis McDonald, the day was more than exciting; it was rewarding as she won a $20,000 shopping spree. Ms. McDonald was the monthly winner from the Ocho Rios store. "I have been shopping with Rapid True value since they opened last year. It's a wonderful feeling to know that you can be rewarded for shopping with Rapid True Value," she said. "To be the recipient of a $20, 000 shopping spree was really welcomed as I was able to shop for some well needed items for my home."
Authorised under the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act, the promotion is open to customers who make a minimum purchase of J$ 1,000 by cash, debit or credit card from any of the 14 branches of Rapid True Value. Each additional $1,000 spent entitles customers to one more coupon to a maximum of 30 per transaction. In addition to the grand prize of the Nissan Frontier, every month, 14 lucky customers (one from each branch islandwide) will win a $20,000 shopping spree. According to John Waugh, Branch Manager, Rapid True Value, Ocho Rios, the branch has seen an increase in the number of persons shopping at the store since the start of the promotion. "With the $2.1 million Nissan Frontier displayed right here on the floor of the Ocho Rios store, we expect both excitement and patronage to increase even further."
The Grand Prize promotion is the first of its kind for the brand since merging to create Rapid True Value last year and according to Oscar Kerr, Hardware and Lumber's General Manager, Retail Division, "The decision to launch the promotion was as a result of the fact that we saw an ideal opportunity to create excitement in the marketplace by rewarding customers who have remained loyal throughout the years, as well as the many new customers we have acquired since our merger and re-branding exercise."
In October of 2005, Hardware & Lumber Ltd. moved to consolidate its four retail hardware and home improvement brands, inherited from the merger of the hardware and agricultural portfolios of Pan Jam and Grace Kennedy, under a new single brand, Rapid True Value. The chain currently consists of 14 stores located across the island.
