GraceKennedy has partnered with Western Union to provide J$13.5 million in post- hurricane recovery aid, to be distributed through the Jamaica Red Cross and the United Way of Jamaica.
Commenting on the Red Cross’s hurricane relief efforts, Dr. Salmon said persistent rains in recent weeks had slowed the pace of distribution but he said he was pleased with the level of his organization’s response to date. He credited the organization’s effectiveness to the dedication of the over 12,000 Red Cross volunteers islandwide who have been involved on the ground in conducting needs-assessments and getting supplies out to the neediest persons.
