James Moss-Solomon, President of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce (CAIC),  will be visiting the Dominican Republic from January 15 - 18 2006 for meetings with Dominican businessmen

His first visit to the country as president of CAIC is part of the Round Table of the Commonwealth Countries in the Dominican Republic's work towards fostering closer business ties in the Caribbean. "Since CAIC is the umbrella business organization in the Caribbean region, his visit to our country will bring more integration and communication between our private sectors," highlighted Fernando Gonzalez Nicolas, president of the Round Table of the Commonwealth Countries in the DR. 

Moss-Solomon's agenda includes meetings with the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and the recently convened CARICOM-Dominican Republic Business Forum, which represents the private sector with the objective of assisting the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the Dominican Republic and the CARICOM countries. 

He will also be meeting the president of the Dominican Association of Industries, Yadira Portela, and the board of directors of the Dominican Exporters Association. 

During his visit, he will also be holding meetings with government officials, including Luis Manuel Bonetti, administrative minister of the Presidency, to present an invitation to President Leonel Fernandez to be the guest speaker at the annual CAIC meeting scheduled for Barbados. 

He will also take time off to visit Santo Domingo's colonial zone and will attend a cocktail party hosted by the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and the Round Table of the Commonwealth Countries in the Republic at the Bahamas Room at the Hilton Hotel where he will be staying. 

On Tuesday, 17 January he will visit Santiago, the country's second largest city, where he will tour the leading free zone, and attend a lunch offered by the board of directors of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Dominican Republic at the Santiago Chamber of Commerce building. 

The president of Republic Bank in the Dominican Republic, Ian de Souza will host a dinner in his honor that evening, upon his return to Santo Domingo.
