GraceKennedy Announces Plans To Grow Its Money Services

GraceKennedy Limited is re-branding its non-deposit-taking money arm and will over the next 12 weeks, roll out its Western Union Money Transfer, FX Trader Cambio and Bill Express offerings under the banner GraceKennedy Money Services

At a Media Briefing held at the new GKMS offices on Trafford Place, the company's Chief Operating Officer, Brian Goldson, explained that the new name is intended to help encourage growth in all aspects of the GK non-deposit taking money suite - including the remittance business the company does as the exclusive agent for the world-renowned Western Union Money Transfer brand in Jamaica, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago (T&T). "Our concern was that the name under which we were operating did not reflect the company's complete, expanded range of non-deposit-taking services, which also comprises FX Trader - a cambio which is available in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago - and Bill Express , which is available in Jamaica, Guyana, T&T, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada and Dominica," Mr. Goldson said.

By heightening awareness in the various markets about the range of services that are available under the GK Money Services banner, the re-branding will allow GraceKennedy to tap into the "tremendous potential" that still exists for more growth in its money services business, Mr. Goldson added.

There is an additional aim to realize growth in GraceKennedy Money Services' roster of new clients, particularly in North America, as more people within that jurisdiction become more aware of the Services' connection with " the already trusted and well-recognized GraceKennedy brand and its reputation for delivering quality," the GKMS executive added.

Ms. Deveta McLaren, GKMS' Marketing Manager for Western Union, Jamaica also disclosed at the forum that the re-branded GraceKennedy Money Services will be rolled out in Jamaica via a county-wide series of media events on Saturdays from August 13 to September 3. The roll-out will continue in New York and will end in Florida. Other areas in the Caribbean in which GKMS does business will experience the re-branded service roll-out during 2006.
