In further recognition of its world class food safety system, Grace Food Processors Canning has been approved to supply juices, ketchup and canned vegetables to the United States military. This means products in these categories can now be ordered by US military bases around the world. The company joins Dairy Industries, and NALPRO as three of the six Jamaican companies listed on the Worldwide Directory of Sanitarily Approved Food Establishments for Armed Forces Procurement.
The listing is based on successful sanitation audits conducted under HACCP.
GFP Canning’s General Manager Simon Roberts noted that while this might not translate immediately into additional business, it was a validation of the team effort at Canning to achieve and maintain international food safety standards.
However, he cited Guantanamo Bay as at least one US military location where Grace products are being sold, and expressed hope that Grace Foods International would now be able to further capitalize on this opportunity.
