The
Board of Directors of GraceKennedy Limited. is pleased to
announce the appointment of Mr.
LeRoy Bookal as an external director
of the company.
A certified Internal Auditor
and Certified Management Accountant,
Mr. Bookal has held several high
profile appointments in his field.
In 2002, Mr. Bookal retired as the General Auditor of Texaco Inc. after a 30-year career with that organization. As General Auditor, he led a staff of 140 auditors in 14 locations across the globe.
Mr. Bookal was the Auditor General of the World Bank, until June 2004, with responsibility for auditing the world-wide activities of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD)/International Development Association (IDA), International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Multilateral International Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
He recently completed a term as Chairman of The Institute of Internal Auditors, an organization with 95,000 members in over 120 countries. His theme during his tenure as chairman was “Internal Auditors: Integral to Good Governance”. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. He also served as President of the Research Foundation of the Institute of Institute of Internal Auditors during which publications, such as, “Audit Committees: What Works Best” and “Corporate Governance: What Works Best” were published.
Mr. Bookal is a past Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute Audit Committee and a past Board Member of The Westchester Coalition (New York) for minority businesses. He serves on the Accounting Standards Board of Baruch College in New York and on the Executive Committee of the Institute of Internal Auditors. He is a volunteer consultant to the Broward County Services Agency for the Aged.
Mr. Bookal was recently selected as the Broward County (Florida) United Nations Association Man of the Year.
