GraceKennedy 20/20 Vision Summary

In 1995 the Directors of GraceKennedy developed a vision of what GraceKennedy would be like in the year 2020.

  • This was to help ensure a positive future for our staff, our customers, our shareholders and our children.
  • A particular concern was that the standard of living of all of us in Jamaica, including us in GraceKennedy, has not increased materially in the last 10 years.
  • Despite increases in wages, salaries, profits and dividends in Jamaican dollars, we are no better off than we were 10 years ago because of the ravages of inflation and the very slow growth of the Jamaican economy.
  • The 2020 Vision sets out a solution which will work if we all give it our wholehearted and enthusiastic support.

THE VISION

We want to be:

  • A dynamic group composed of strong, viable business units.
  • A group of business units that gives value to our customers, not added cost.
  • A company whose consumers demand our products, our services and our brands.
  • Continuously increasing productivity to raise the standard of living of our staff.
  • A high stock market value for our company to benefit our shareholders, and to lower the cost of capital.
  • Ethical in our conduct of doing business.
  • Responsible members of our community - "Grace - We Care"
  • Truly international by acting on appropriate opportunities wherever they may arise in the world.

THE PROCESS

  • Clear goals.
  • Clear responsibilities.
  • Constant communication.
  • Accountability commensurate with authority.
  • Teamwork - "We rather than I".
  • Directors and managers must expand their divisional horizons to think "Corporation Grace".
  • Embrace the tools that open the doors to world competitiveness:
  • Technology
  • Total Quality/ISO 9000
  • Continuous learning
  • Ride the wave crests of strategic shifts in markets to our benefit rather than being overwhelmed by them.
