Overview
Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation is the outreach arm of GraceKennedy. It was established in 1979 in response to the social and economic conditions existing in inner city communities.
Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation is, as the name suggests, a joint project between management and staff , to facilitate the development of communities that border GraceKennedy's offices. Each company and their staff within the group make a direct and personal input in the development of the communities around them, in order to help in the process of creating and sustaining community relations.
It was established in 1979 during a rather dark period in Jamaica's history when there much violence in the society and hope was at its lowest. The then chairman of GraceKennedy Limited, the Hon. S. Carlton Alexander and Accountant Lloyd 'Sam' Richards envisioned the need for a social commitment to those most affected, the nation's poor..
Objectives
The objectives of the Foundation are:
- To relieve poverty, suffering and distress among the poor and unemployed.
- To facilitate the education of the dependents of the destitute and unemployed
- To support activities which promote Community Development
